An exclusive Varsity Dragon Boat Race day suitable for 25 participants or more (plus spectators) will begin with a welcome at one of the most prestigious rowing clubs on the Thames. A traditional rowing breakfast is optional - the day could begin as late as mid-afternoon depending on the time of year, as 4 hours minimum is required for the whole event. Crews undergo a full safety briefing from their allocated "cox" followed by an on-water training session with the senior coach. Crews return to the clubhouse for a pre-race briefing before assembly at the start line of the Varsity Race.
Safety boats and other launches (if required for spectators) follow the racing to the finish line 4 miles and 374 yards upstream, on the exact course of the Oxford & Cambridge Boat Race. The official Boat Race record of 16mins 39secs set by Cambridge in 1996 is currectly challenged by the fastest time in a dragon boat of 29mins 32secs set by a team from Fresenius Kabi.
Following the race, crews recover with refreshments at the clubhouse of another rowing club, where a trophy and medal presentation will be made. This is suitable for companies wishing to include an activity in their conference or celebration programme. It is a great corporate day out in London.
